Continuing to highlight champions from this past weekend, The O’Neal School was able to take care of business on Saturday against Wayne Country Day to secure the 2A State Title. This was a team that was tremendous all season long, racking up an impressive 30-1 overall record with their only loss coming earlier in the season to an out-of-state team. They were dominant throughout, as this was a team that not only got it done offensively but was extremely effective defensively as well, and they showed that once again in the championship game winning 46-32.

It was the school’s first girls’ basketball championship but this is a team that has had a winning tradition over several seasons, ultimately winning the title this year as the best team in the division was just the cherry on top. Ashanti Fox was tremendous throughout the game against Wayne Country Day, leading all players with 19 points but again, this was always a balanced team on both sides as Kennedy Moore, Reily Johnson, Gianna Maheu, and others were effective as well.

We want to send a huge congrats to The O’Neal School on a historic season and capping it off in impressive fashion with a state title over the weekend.
