At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, hundreds of players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and underrated, and today’s edition will highlight Harold Lee of Berean Baptist.

We’ve seen Lee since his arrival to North Carolina, recently stating, Although there’s a healthy number of big men in North Carolina’s Class of 2024, it’s very shocking that Harold Lee hasn’t already gained a ton of traction with college coaches. From an immediate glance, one can recognize his incredible size, length, and fluidity. He’s still developing as a long-term product but the instincts and array of tools should be too enticing to ignore. Lee is a reliable rim-protector and two-way rebounder with the necessary motor and toughness to consistently cause problems for opponents. He finishes well around the basket, but doesn’t necessarily need touches in order to make an impact. In terms of upside, Lee is as intriguing as anyone in this class.”

Since then, Lee has continued to prove himself as a next-level player. His nightly averages of 6.6 PPG, 3.8 RPG, and 1.1 BPG might not necessarily pop off the page, but it’s worth noting that Berean was full of talented pieces. That being said, Lee is a long, fluid athlete with the ability to make a consistent impact as a rebounder and rim-protector. He’s a solid finisher around the basket, but will only get better with additional strength. It shouldn’t be too difficult to sell coaches on the idea of a 7-foot-2 post prospect with obvious upside remaining. Lee is still truly just beginning to scratch the surface of his long-term abilities and has the tools to be a difference-maker at the next level
