Last year, Lake Norman Girls finished the season with an impressive 31-1 record, a season certainly one to remember. But it was interesting to see what this team would look like, especially with the graduation of Kirsten Lewis-Williams, and to see if others would elevate their play.

That question looks to be answered quickly this season, and they showed why at the Phenom Lakesgiving with an impressive victory against NC GBB. It was a strong showing from the team, as they continue to attack offensively and create havoc defensively. But you also have to be impressed with the play of their leaders, including the Shehan sisters and 2026 Kelsey Rhyne.

2025 Samantha Shehan has been leading the charge in impressive fashion, scoring from all over the court and multiple levels, knocking down shots with a quick release from outside, creating strong off the dribble, finishing through contact, and always finding ways to produce. The same can be said about 2025 Alexis Shehan, as the duo is averaging 45 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists to start the season. But they also have plenty of help, including from 2026 Kelsey Rhyne who can be deadly from the outside but also brings a toughness to the court. This is a three-headed monster leading this team, but this is also a team that is deep, plays team basketball, can get after it defensively, and really shares the ball well.

Lake Norman is off to an impressive 3-0 start to the season, and though it may be early in the season and there is plenty of time left in the season.  However, Lake Norman Girls have certainly captured the attention of many, and we believe they have a chance to make yet another run at a title this year.
