The Class of 2027 here in North Carolina is shaping up to be a strong one, and one freshman who should start garnering a lot more attention here in the state is Northern Guilford’s freshman Leena McField.  She is tearing it up on the court this season, showing her scoring impact and her ability to make a huge impact in a variety of ways.

This is a young lady who can create and knock down shots from a variety of levels, as she is not only finding ways to get to the line, but she creates well in getting inside the defense and also being a big threat from behind the arc. On the season, she has racked up nearly 60 made 3’s on the season while shooting 40 percent from behind the arc.

We talked more to Northern Guilford head coach Josh Evans, diving more into what he has seen.

“She has had a great season,” Evans said.  “She is a very special player with a high basketball IQ. She makes everyone on the court better. Leena is one of the hardest-working players on our team. She wants to be the best or finish first in everything that we do.  This helps to create competitive practices, which in return makes everyone better. She is a fun kid on and off the court that keeps our team and coaches laughing. She stays after practice multiple days a week putting in extra work and preparing for the next game. She also watches a lot of game film on our opponents in addition to what we do as a team, so she is always prepared. As a young player, her basketball IQ and preparation are off the charts.”
