I can remember it like it was yesterday (just shows you how fast the season goes by)… the season had just started and Victory Christian was one that made an early statement on the season, walking away with an impressive win against Word of God and then backed it up with a win at home against Christ School.  That was when it was clear that Phenom Hoops had to get out and see what was going on at Victory Christian.

That is when we watched the Kings take on Providence Day at home, where they made yet another statement with a 52-34 impressive victory and it was time to write this article.

Is Victory Christian the Biggest Surprise Team to Start the Season?

Fast forward to February, and Victory Christian was able to back that up and made a statement as they walked away with a title, defeating United Faith Christian for the second time in two weeks.  They had to battle through some games, but this was a team that not only knew how to get the most out of each other on the court, but they played extremely hard on both ends of the court. They brought so much energy and showed that they can be effective both offensively and defensively, and it is what ultimately helped them secure a title this past weekend.

The guard play was what led the way for Victory Christian this season, as 2024 Xavier Perry and Justyn Whitfield averaged 25ppg combined with both being able to score and make plays. But it was also players like Alius Bowser, Myles Smith, Carlos Marshall, Abubakar Cham, and others that brought the fight as well. This was a team that competed day in and day out, and they came together this year to make a point. And that they did, walking away with a state title and proving to be one of the top teams in the state of North Carolina.
