Phenom Hoops went down to Columbia to check out some of the top talent in the state of South Carolina, as they all came to compete and showcase their skills under one building at the Savage Academy.

In a two-part series, we look at the four teams that were mixed with an array of talent from different schools and classes. We first look at Team 1 and 2.

Top Players (Team 1 & 2)

2022 6'8 Julian Phillips (Blythewood)

  • This is the second time getting to watch Phillips in the last few weeks and each time, he continues to blow you away with his versatility and skillset at his size.  Phillips continues to be a mismatch on the floor with his length, ability to put the ball on the deck, initiate the offense and break down defenders.  His quickness and ability to showcase his range is tough for big's to guard around the perimeter and his size can't be stopped against smaller opponents.  It is easy to see why he is regarded as a Top-100 prospect and has offers from around the country.

2022 6'1 Jazian Gortman (Keenan)

  • Gortman was a monster for Keenan last, averaging 17 points per game.  The rising junior was absolutely impressive on the court against some of the top talents in the state.  Gortman showcased terrific handles and effective moves to create for himself, setting up defenders and taking advantage of those opportunities.  His ability to create space and avenues for himself against defenders, as well as his bounce and oozing confidence on the floor was a show.  This looks to be just the start for this young man.

Players that impressed and made their mark (Team 1 & 2):

2022 6'2 Julian Kiett (Irmo)

  • Keitt is at his best when he uses his body and speed to his advantage and stays aggressive.  Keitt showcased that time and time again, attacking the rim and getting downhill.  When he does that, he is incredibly productive on the court.

2021 6'4 Davion Everett (Ridge View)

  • Everett grabbed our attention with his impact in multiple areas on the court.  He scored around the rim well, was incredibly active on both ends, made the tough/dirty plays, outworked others, and really got after it on the boards.  His constant motor and extra effort really caught our eyes.

2023 6'8 Greg Jackson (Ridge View)

  • Every time we get a chance to watch Jackson, you just see that he has a ton of tools that will only continue to grow as he gets older. Great size, mobility, athleticism, and fluid around the rim/paint, Jackson is going to be near the top of his class in South Carolina.

2021 6'0 DaVeon Thomas (Lee Central)

  • Thomas continues to bring intrigue with his game. Thomas has that scoring mentality that coaches like in guards.  With a great frame, change of speed, and the ability to put the ball in the bucket, Thomas should be getting more looks from programs.
