Greetings HS hoops junkies from across the waiting-for-football-season-piedmont. The Amazing One is here to recap the final day of the Summer Finale event. On court 3, The Sadster witnessed two more 40 point performances and another OT thriller, capping off an exciting summer of travel ball. We will now get to the game recaps and take a look at the final Serious 6 of the summer. To the games!!!!!

The Vikings 17U cruised past Boo Williams Cox 87-72. Zach Shumate racked up 27 points and Kam Edwards dropped in 19. Dean Reiber added 11 points and 10 rebounds including a couple of vicious dunks over Williams’ personnel. Gary Williams refused to go quietly into the night as he tallied a 40 point highlight reel for his squad in a losing effort.

Main Event slipped past the Carolina Speed 17U 66-62. Salen “Energizer Bunny” Streeter led the charge with 19 points Masod Hester chipped in 13. Ed Garner led the Speed with 23 but his team got caught with 6 men on the court with 10 seconds left and the score tied at 62. They received a technical and Main Event would go 4-4 from the free-throw line to finish the game.

FIBA 2021-22 Florence survived the Greensboro Warriors 51-45. Dalon Edwards led Florence with 17 and LeBron Thomas added 13 for the winners. Rashaad Williamson paced the Warriors with 18 as their late rally came up short.

In a heavyweight tilt, WBC Elite 17U outlasted Team Phoenix Elite 68-63. Jajuan Carr posted 18 points and 7 assists for WBC and Maleec Myers tallied 15 of his own in aiding the winners’ cause. Davis Blackwell scored 14 and Landon Sutton 13 for Phoenix. Carr continues to impress The Great One as he controls the game like a silent assassin with his timely scoring and precision passing.

Team Loaded NC 15U outlasted the Charlotte Supreme in OT 93-89. Loaded played with only 5 players but pulled the game out behind a monster 40 point effort by Elijah Jamison, his second of the weekend. Another warrior, Cam Oates, added 22 points and 6 assists of his own for the winners, who erased a double-digit second-half deficit. High flying Sean Sims tallied 18 for Loaded including several high-level flushes that drew some ooohs and aaaahs. Anthony Moore led the Supreme with 20 and Wesley Tubbs turned in a 20 point game for the losers as well.

Finally, the Charlotte Aces eased past FIBA 2021-22 Florence 53-40. Amir Davenport chalked up 13 points and Mikal Johnson chipped in 10 as well. LeBron Thomas posted 18 as the only bright spot for Florence.
