The recruiting landscape has drastically changed over the years, as several players have already committed and signed early on. But what also makes this interesting is with the transfer portal entry now closed and college prospects coming off the board, it also leaves several unsigned seniors left on the board that can help a program in the future.

One player that I believe can help a program win and build on something down the road is 2024 6’8 Cooper Kowalski from First Baptist High School in South Carolina. Every time we watched Kowalski on the court, he immediately grabbed our attention.

This is what was said about his game last year:

“6’8 ‘24 Cooper Kowalski (Charleston Raptors) continues to stand out. Skilled post with IQ, touch, and a quality two-way motor. Pursues rebounds hard, alters shots defensively, and runs the floor properly in transition. Great cutter. Scores in various ways.”

“6’8 2024 Cooper Kowalski (Charleston Raptors) should be a priority for D1 programs. Nice touch around the basket & feel for the game. Can space the floor. Good footwork, mobile. Utilizes length well to altar shots.”

He followed that up with a tremendous season as a player, showing why he should be a late target for schools. Kowalski plays with tremendous energy and motor, looking to outwork players in a variety of areas, being a fluid prospect in being able to finish through contact and at the rim, and simply looks to attack the glass and create extra opportunities. He offers a lot on the court and his energy/ work ethic will certainly shine on the court, as he walked away with the SCISA 4A Region III Player of the Year and recorded several impressive showings throughout the year.

Coaches, if you are looking for a late get and someone who will come put in the work while also bringing tremendous energy, Kowalski is the player for you and would be a great late get.
