Reece's Standouts: Phenom Spring TipOff (Day 1)

by: Ethan Reece

2026 Adam Grier (CSB Elite)
The difference you'll find with Adam and any other 2026 PG is his physical maturity and IQ. He blends right in with the 2024s he was playing with and was actually the leader of his squad and had himself a game in a quality win over Carolina Riptide. Lefty with a pull-up game and a good understanding of how to use his body, especially as a ball-handler that plays with a good change of pace. He sees plays before they happen and gets others involved with his elite passing. There aren't many young PG's like him that will have as much control over the outcome of the game as him.

2024 Will Googins (Carolina Riptide)
You could give me Will Googins any day and I'll trust him to run the team. Good things happen with the ball in his hands and he naturally manages the pace of the game. Quick and crafty, he doesn't force the issue and while he is best at distributing and getting others looks he can certainly score it in bunches as well. Reliable shooter and sneaky finisher with the ball, second week in a row I've walked away impressed with him and his style of play.

2025 Beau Harvey (Rod Howard Select)
In basketball there are certain qualities in players that you can't teach. Beau has several of those and they're all the more important with him being the man running the show. Strong bodied with excellent balance, plays off two feet and finishes. He's got a serious will to win and fought hard in a furious second half comeback. He made play after play, displaying true grit and toughness that you don't see out of younger guys these days

2024 Josh Helms (Wilmington Excel)
Josh was running a point guard clinic in their opening win. In a back and forth game, you need someone to rely on to make things happen. Josh got his early on getting to the basket with nice finishing adjustments and set the pace for others to follow as he found himself managing and facilitating more in the second half. But he's a gamer, heady and competitive, and when the chips came down for OT he came up clutch to hit the game-winning three.

2025 Andrew Grimes (Raleigh Raiders)
At this age, Andrew is a literal walking mismatch. There's nothing anybody can do with his size, length and natural abilities. High defensive prowess especially around the rim, uses his length to clear the boards and block shots. He's very mobile and runs the court, needing just 3-4 steps from half court to get to the cup when he broke out in transition. There's so much to like and people are going to start hearing a lot more about him, get ready this summer because he's an absolute problem!
