The Queen City Showcase in Rock Hill this weekend is going to be off the charts.  With talent all on the floor, livestreams streaming the games, and a ton of coverage from Phenom Hoops, this is going to be one of the best events to start the travel ball season.

That is why we wanted to get a leg up on it, as we spoke to several coaches that will be bringing their teams to South Carolina this weekend.  Below, we look at a few players that you may want to check out on the court, whether you are a college coach, a scout, or a fan.

Check out a few names below for each team.

Team: Charlotte Royals 15u

Dominique Downs – 2024
Coach’s Thoughts: was on Phenom’s Middle School Players to watch last year. He is a guy that can play/guard multiple positions on the court and can contribute in a multitude of ways. With nice size for a wing, Dominique has shown the ability to knock down the open shot while also being able to get to the rim. Rebounds well for his size. Currently has 3.5 GPA.

Ryan Lewis – 2024
Coach’s Thoughts: has the ability to score on all 3 levels and truly is a student of the game. Son of former Queen’s University PG TJ Lewis, Ryan has a High Basketball IQ and can play either guard position well. His playmaking ability will keep defenses on their toes and will enable his ability to get his teammates involved. As his body continues to develop, this will be a name you will want to follow over the years. Currently has a 3.6 GPA.

Jake Weckerle – 2024
Coach’s Thoughts: exceptional hands for a young big that moves well. Jake brings much-needed size to this Royals roster. He possesses the ability to finish with either hand and over both shoulders. Understands spacing and how to keep the ball up. Very fundamentally sound and is an unselfish player. As he continues to get stronger, he too will be a name to watch these upcoming years. Currently has a 4.0 GPA.

Amari Richardson – 2024
Coach’s Thoughts: Amari isn’t new to participating in Phenom Events and when you watch him play can tell that he has played a lot of basketball over the years. Amari is currently Class of 2023 but is young for his grade. Playing against older guys has helped his maturity as a player. Tremendous feel for the game and works just as hard on the defensive end of the court as he does on offense. A High IQ, vocal floor general that plays with pace, has the ability to create for himself and others from either guard spot. Doesn’t possess a weakness on the court. Together, Amari and Ryan will be fun tandem to watch this summer. Currently has a 3.5 GPA.

Malik Thompson – a North Meck product so will bring a toughness to both ends of the court and effort won’t ever have to be questioned. High energy, defensive specialist who has the ability to finish in open court and through contact with either hand. Improved jump shot and can knock down the open 3. Current GPA 3.0.
