Coach Bradley Gabriel
By Rick Lewis

It's truly amazing what Coach Bradley Gabriel has done with the Lincoln Charter basketball program in just seven short years. Lincoln Charter is now one of the state's premier teams in the NCHSAA 1A classification. Lincoln Charter has made the regionals for the past four years and won the NCHSAA 1A championship last year going an impressive 30-4. Once again, the future is bright for Coach Gabriel and Lincoln Charter is odds on favorite to repeat as state champions. One thing is for certain, Lincoln Charter continues to be one of the more exciting and entertaining teams to watch this season in the state of North Carolina. Lincoln Charter will open up the season at the Phenom High School Jamboree. Now, let's take a closer look at the impact players for Lincoln Charter.

5'11 '18 Kody Shubert (Presbyterian College)

We've always been a fan of Kody Shubert. The sub six-foot point guard simply has the swagger and moxy that has made him a fan favorite. Shubert has a unique blend of athleticism and an advanced skill set. Simply put, he is a tremendous athlete with an uncanny bounce. Shubert can score from all three levels. He can consistently knock down the 3-pointer, hit the midrange, and can be on the receiving end of an alley oop dunk. While Shubert is a big-time scorer (20.1 PPG), he is also a gifted passer (7.6 APG) with terrific court vision. He is difficult to contain in the half court because he has the unique ability to change speeds with his dribble hesitation and stop and go moves.

6'2 '19 Levontae Knox

Levontae has always been blessed with elite level athleticism, but has made tremendous strides in his overall game. First of all, he has become a more consistent perimeter shooter to dovetail with his all-out slashing and attacking mentality. Last season, he averaged 12.1 PPG and 8.3 RPG, he will be looked upon to be the team's lock up defender. The lengthy athletic wing has superb lateral quickness and also led the team in steals averaging 3.6 SPG. Levonate sports an offer from Appalachian State and is getting interest from a slew of other D1 schools.

6'2 '19 Jackson Gabriel

Once Jackson Gabriel steps over half court, he is in shooting range! He has unbelievable 3-point shooting range and can score off the catch and now has the ability to create his own shot off the dribble/bounce. More importantly, Jackson has gained more confidence in his game and has enhanced his play making ability which has allowed him not to be so one-dimensional. Last season, Jackson averaged 18.2 PPG and made 133 3-pointers. Shooters translate and Jackson is getting D1 interest from UNC-Greensboro, Presbyterian and Navy.

6'8 '18 Jehlon Johnson

Jehlon Johnson has excellent size that will be looked upon to give Lincoln Charter a legit scoring threat in the paint. He has passer friendly hands and a soft shooting touch. In addition, Jehlon is a two-handed rebounder who will make the outlet pass to initiate the fast break.

6'3 '18 London England (Lees McRae College)

London England may just be the team's glue guy this season. He is an athletic wing that can score from all three levels. London is a strong defender and plays within the framework of the game. More importantly, he doesn't have to have the ball in his hands to be an effective player. The veteran wing has been one of the more underrated players on the team. He quietly goes about his business, but is always posting up solid numbers.
