What a way to end the summer here at the Phenom Rise Showcase. Teams came to compete and fans got a treat, as the competition was off the charts and bragging rights were on the line. It was Championship Sunday and teams wanted nothing but to leave with some hardware.
We kicked off Sunday in style with the 13u Division, as this one was off the charts and super competitive; neither team wanted to go home with the loss. It was a back and forth game all throughout the game, with teams trading baskets and neither team creating separation. Carolina Heights got out to an early halftime lead 22-20, but we found ourselves with a one-basket game throughout. Darnious Gibson hit a big three to tie the game late for the Rockets, eventually sending it into overtime. In overtime, Carolina Heights knocked down two free throws but there was still time left on the clock. That is when Alex Lash stepped up for the Rockets with a HUGE three with four seconds left, ultimately helping seal the win and championship!
