The recruiting world has been heating up with players around the country, as we recently spoke with 2023 Tyler Bey. Playing with the Oakland Soldiers this summer, Bey has been playing excellent basketball, showing his ability to be a big offensive threat, score in a variety of ways, and finish well. His production has been catching the eyes of several college programs, as we spoke to Bey about the latest along with his summer experience so far.

Bey recently added two more high-major offers from Miami and Washington State, and shortly added another from New Mexico State. He also talks about who else has been showing interest his way.

Tyler Bey Recruitment Update:

Phenom: How has everything been going this summer with the Oakland Soldiers?
Bey: Everything has been great.  Summer is going great so far.  Everything has been good with the Soldiers. We are all a family, so I’m happy to be able to go through everything good and bad with my team, knowing that at the end of the day, we are all together.

Phenom: What has been your role with that team and what have you been wanting to show more with your game?
Bey: My role has been to always bring energy, stay aggressive, and do whatever I can do to help my team win on both ends of the floor. This summer, I’ve been wanting to show that I can be a leader and that I can bring a lot to the table every time I’m on the floor.

Phenom: Recruitment continues to stay strong. What are your initial thoughts on the latest offers from Miami and Washington State?
Bey: Coach Larranaga and Coach Courtney from Miami face timed me and we all had a great conversation about our backgrounds first and got to know each other more.  They gave me a history of the school and what it means to put on a University of Miami jersey.  Coach Derrick from Washington State called me and told me exactly where I would fit in and how good their playstyle is for me.

Phenom: Who else has been showing interest your way and what has been their main message to you?
Bey: Kansas, Villanova, and NC State.  They have been saying just to stay the course and stay locked in.

Phenom: Have any visits planned or been to any schools?
Bey: Some schools have asked me to visit. We are still trying to set up dates but right now, my main focus is locking in on AAU.
