The Phenom Grassroots TOC is this weekend in Rock Hill/Fort Mill, as it is the first LIVE Period with Phenom Hoops this season. The talent pool runs deep throughout and we want to give college coaches a leg up on who to watch and who will be in action. Here are a few players to check out for each team, presented by the head coach.
Mint Hill Lakers
Player – Maxwell Coles
Class – 2022
Position – pg
Game Review – Max is a dynamic pg that plays both ends with equal energy. He is a flat bucket getter at all 3 levels. Great rebounder from the guard position and a tenacious defender. Plays the game the right way. Wants to win!
Player – Marcus Willis
Class – 2022
Position – pg
Game Review – Marcus is dynamic small guard that understands his strengths and weaknesses as it relates to his size. He compliments both with his big heart and energy. Marcus can facilitate, penetrate in the paint and finish with a variety of floaters as well as at the basket. His 3 ball is consistently around the 38 to 40% mark. Great teammate and floor leader.
Player: Tyrone Hardy Jr
Class – 2023
Position – pg/lead guard
Game Review- TJ has one of the highest ' IQs I’ve ever coached at the hs and travel ball levels. He has tremendous court vision and consistently drops eye popping dimes. TJ breaks down defenders and gets to the cup with the best. Upon doing so he’s able to finish from the midrange on in similarly to a CP3 type pg. Shoots the 3 ball very well. He also has great size as a point guard and can run both a fast past offense and facilitate in the half court. Will be a steal at the next level no doubts.
