2021 Jacob Morgan has been a popular name this summer with Phenom Hoops, playing in multiple events and showing just how much of an impact he can be on the floor on several levels. Morgan’s play has been attracting some college coaches’ eyes, as he recently earned his first few offers.

We checked in with Morgan to see the latest around his summer and recruitment.

How has it been being back with your guys with the Carolina Riptide'
It has been great to get back on the court. We did not think we would get to play so it is even better now that we are.

Has it been fun to get back on the court with your game and what had been your mindset this summer to show/prove'
It’s been really fun to get back on the court with my team.  My mindset has been to help the Riptide win and show college coaches my game. I want to show I was working and lifting when we were stuck at home.

How would you best describe your game on the court and what areas have you been looking to work on'
I can score from anywhere but I also pass the ball and help my team. I have worked hard to get stronger and improve my defense and rebounding.

You really attack a lot of areas of the court.  What areas of your game make you the most effective and tough to defend'
I can play multiple positions and score in many different ways. My ability to score from all 3 levels makes me hard to guard. The toughest part of my game is my shot because I have the ability to make shots when I’m heavily defended.

How has your confidence level grown with the success you saw this past high school season and starting to earn more recognition'
My confidence is much higher because of the Pine Lake season. We beat some good teams outside of our conference. It helped me to be a captain as a junior with Trace Forest.

You received offers from Mars Hill, Lynchburg, and USMMA.  What was it like to get those offers on the board for you' Also, knowing that the hard work is paying off'
It was nice to get those offers because they are great colleges and coaches. It felt good to see all the hard work I have put in pay off.

What did they say they liked about your game and what you could provide for them'
They liked the way I can get it done on both ends with a high level of energy. They like my ability to score aand run the floor.

What schools have been showing interest your way but have yet to offer'  How strong have they been and what kind of relationship have you built with them'
I have talked to lots of coaches and built good relationships with them. I visited Young Harris 2 weeks ago and have some other ones coming up. Some of the schools showing interest are Tusculum, Emory & Henry, Lincoln Memorial, Randolph-Macon, Roanoke, Converse, Hampden-Sydney, Coker, Quincy, Catawba, and Army.
