When you think of Team Synergy 17U you think of them as a tough defensive and fast pace offensive team. They typically play 5 wing players avg in height 6'-6'5 but because their guards are so tough and strong they tend to rebound the ball well, even though they are undersized.
When you look at the roster nothing pops out, no 6'9 or above players, no 4-5 star recruits even though Demar Anderson's recruitment should pick up heavy this travel ball season, they just have average size players that know how to win. It's easy for teams to overlook them but once they hit the court you quickly find out you are in for a battle.
They are led by Victory Christian stand out 6'2 Demar Anderson and Combine Academy 6'4 Shawn Wilson. Demar who lead the team in scoring last tournament also sets the tone for TS 17U on defense. His strength, size and quickness allows him to cover multiple positions and his ability to track the ball and position himself makes him a great rebounder, He's a very efficient scorer, not flashy, he keeps it simple and just produces. Shoots the deep ball well and his broad shoulders help him finish in traffic.
Shawn Wilson's size and athleticism allow him to play and cover the PG to the stretch. Shawn has great court vision and ball-handling skills that allow him to get downhill and attack to finish with a pull-up or finish at the rim. Unstoppable in the open court, his size allows him to find open players in traffic and he's an excellent on-ball defender.
5'9 AJ Thompson of Northwestern HS is a crafty PG that has outstanding ball-handing and shooting ability. His speed and crafty finishes allow him to finish over bigs and he is a tenacious on-ball defender.
6'3 Amarion Turner of Legion Collegiate is a nice wing that can shoot and get to the rim off the bounce, in this short season he has made 2 all-tourney teams. Amarion has consistently been the 1st or 2nd leading scorer and is receiving interest from college coaches and expect his recruitment to pick up.
5'11 Lefty Donaven Brown of Rock Hill HS is another exceptional guard for TS 17U, he's a quick, explosive athletic guard that attacks the rim with ease he is a crafty ball handler and get's by defenders. He's also a very effective rebounder from the guard position.
Team Synergy is a well balanced team and they typically avg 4-5 players in double figures they thrive on the team having more than 20 Assist in a game and they execute well in the half-court.
