We kick off what should be a great event throughout the week, as the Phenom Anthony Morrow Shootout is looking to be one of the premier events in the state of North Carolina before the Christmas holidays.  We started with an intriguing matchup between Weddington and Charlotte Country Day, as Weddington came out strong knocking down shots from a variety of levels and jumping out to a double-digit lead after one.  But Charlotte Country Day started to elevate their play on both sides of the floor, cutting into the lead before halftime. Weddington led 35-32 after two quarters.

Second half, it was an absolute battle once again with both teams getting after it. Weddington was able to hold on to a narrow lead at the end of the third but this one was looking like it was going deep into the final minutes. Charlotte Country Day eventually retook the lead late, leading by three points with under a minute to go. Weddington answered back with 30 seconds to go with a strong And-1 finish, tying it up at 60 with 31.4 seconds to go. With a late turnover by Charlotte Country Day, it was senior Nolan Dunphy that came up clutch with the mid-range game-winner with two seconds remaining, which ultimately gave Weddington the 62-60 thrilling victory.
