On Wednesday, Phenom Hoops traveled down to Waxhaw, North Carolina for an open gym preview of ACE Skill Development’s pair of 15U teams—Burns and Palmer. The guys competed hard throughout the practice session and highlighted some intrigue throughout the live action stretches. This article will take a closer look at their pieces and how they fit into the overall structure of their respective group, moving onto Coach Burns’ squad…

Although the entire roster highlighted intrigue, Noah Hunter was arguably the most enticing long-term prospect from this group. He’s grown considerably over the last calendar year and, while his skillset is developing, already possesses natural instincts on the court. Hunter is a quality defender, rebounder, and finisher who displayed solid feel with the ball in his hands. Add in his frame, and there’s a clear path to becoming a great player.

Completely opposite from the entry above, Carson Williams has the makings of a quality player but needs to physically develop. He’s small but smart, tough, and comfortable with or without the ball in his hands. Williams is a terrific shooter with vision and a useful handle. He has the tools to be a really nice piece as his body gets stronger.

It’s easy to see the upside with someone like Elliott Jenkins, who already possesses the size, strength, and interior presence to cause problems for opponents. He rebounds, alters shots, and runs the floor hard in transition. Additionally, Liam Batt highlighted spot-up ability as a perimeter shooter and Kingston Bland possesses a strong body and developing skillset.

Rounding out this group, guys like Patrick Burns, Arthur Whitt, Trey Smith, Dallas Long, and Wynston Johnson each found opportunities throughout the practice. They displayed great energy and a clear willingness to do whatever possible to give their team an edge. Overall, this group has several nice pieces and should blossom over the coming months.
