It has been a wild ride recently for the Wake Forest basketball program.  With head coach Steve Forbes being named to head the ship in Winston-Salem, it seems that the staff isn’t wasting any time on jumping on a few in-state prospects for their 2021 recruiting class.

The staff seemed to have their eyes already on 2021 Bryce Harris from Greensboro Day and 2021 Lucas Taylor from Heritage, as they recently announced offers from the Demon Deacons over the weekend.

Two in-state products have now become targets for the Demon Deacons in the ACC.

For Lucas, it continues a bond that he had with a coaching staff that was at East Tennessee State.

“It has been really good,” he told Phenom Hoops.  “I talked to them when they were at ETSU and we were able to build a bond.”

“It is truly a blessing,” he continued about having an offer from an ACC program.  “All my coaches have put me in great positions to succeed and they’ve always told me just to be patient and everything will fall in place.”

With him being a big guard and being able to score on all three levels as well as a defensive presence, the staff at Wake Forest thinks he could be a perfect fit for their system.

Harris is another intriguing offer, as he brings versatility and can play at multiple levels and multiple positions. Coming down to Greensboro Day this season from New York, the junior really started catching the eyes of college coaches.

“It was great to receive an offer from Wake Forest, especially on my birthday,” Harris told Phenom. “I’ve received a lot of great offers but being given the opportunity to be a part of the ACC is a great accomplishment.”

“I do know that it is a very creditable program with all the great players that have come out of Wake. I am just interested to know about how the transition of coaches will change the new style of play.”

Harris brings the ability to attack inside and out, developing the ability to score around the post against smaller opponents, finishing at the rim but also using his versatility to step out and run the floor.

Two in-state players that have the attention of the new staff at Wake Forest, it seems that Taylor and Harris will be prime targets in the 2021 class.  They also recently offered 2021 Josh Beadle from South Carolina as well on Sunday night.
