Phenom Porter Gaud Holiday Classic

Phenom Hoops travelled to beautiful and historic Charleston, South Carolina to cover the Porter Gaud Holiday Classic. In the first game of the event, we have SCIAA 1A Cathedral Academy coached by Chris Pouyat going against Heathwood Hall and coach Rich Edwards. Cathedral Academy came into the contest with a 5-2 record while Heathwood sported a 2-3 record. After a tight first quarter, Cathedral Academy took a 10-9 lead going into the second quarter. Heathwood countered with a 10-2 second quarter run and advanced to a 26-21 halftime lead. Leading scoring at the half were Brooke Edwards (Heathwood Hall) and Jalyn Almeida (Cathedra Academy) both with nine points. In the third quarter, Heathwood continues to expand upon their lead and took a commanding 42-29 lead to the fourth quarter and finished with a 53-39 win. For Heathwood Hall, it was a well-balanced attack as the trio of freshman Emily Frick tallied 17 points, while junior Brooke Edwards and sophomore Brooklyn Moore chipped in 13 and 10 points respectively. For Cathedral Academy, it was 8th grade Jalyn Almeida leading the way with 17 points while sophomore Matti Riddick chipped in 14 points.
