“Getting to Know” Zach Amonett

6’2 2022 Zach Amonett
High School: Pickett County
AAU: Tennessee Tigers

For Zach Amonett, the talented combo guard has achieved success in the classroom as well as the basketball court. As a sophomore, Amonett made All Conference, All District, All Region and All State. He averaged 24.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 3.0 APG and even 1.7 SPG, but more importantly, Amonett has an impressive 4.0 GPA. He is the model of consistency when it comes to being a student athlete.

Amonett is currently getting interest from Appalachian State, Belmont, Elon, Liberty, Western Kentucky, UC-Irvine, and UMKC. While Amonett can play both guard positions, it is evident that he is most effective as a scoring guard. Amonett has equal ability to score off the “catch” or creating his own shot off the dribble. He’s quite comfortable going left and is exceptional with the step back jumper. More importantly, Amonett has terrific shooting mechanics, has a quick release and does an absolutely tremendous job of “doing his work early” in terms of footwork.

Amonett has the ability to score from all three levels, has deep range and has a nifty midrange game along with the floater. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/14387508/5e6d7ea55b3c870ab84ec15c
Like many good shooters, he moves well without the ball, but has a high basketball IQ in terms of reading screens. The crafty and cagey guard is one track to become one of the top prospects in the state of Tennessee and is on track to score over 2,000 career points.

With the ability to score efficiency from the 3-point line and the high academic success Amonett has enjoyed in the classroom, look for his recruitment to pick up sooner rather than later.
