Season in Review:

Cogan has been rising up the rankings for Phenom Hoops and deservingly so, especailly after an impressive season. Helping the Eagles to a 27-3 overall record, Cogan is a 19.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game.

Overall Game:

The rising junior has a tremendous feel for the game. He is a lefty that gets out in transition, showing that he can get to the basket and is crafty in how he scores the ball. Cogan also shows a smooth jumper from mid-range and from three, shooting 41 percent from the arc. He has a reputation of being a gym rat and plays extremely hard on the court.

What has been said by Phenom Hoops:

“We look at a player that has the necessary all-around skillset to make his presence felt with any group of teammates, Sam Cogan. He’s a smart, skilled, surprisingly athletic guard prospect that is capable of thriving with or without the ball in his hands. Cogan does a great job of leading by example through his unselfishness and strong defensive effort.” – All-American Camp Evaluation in 2019

“In and out, Cogan was cooking at the event. The sophomore guard attacked constantly, getting to the rim with a smooth lay in as well as finishing through contact, getting to the line on multiple occasions.” – Phenom Hartsville in 2019

“Cogan is smart, crafty, and tougher and more athletic than most people would assume from the initial look-test. The southpaw knows how to consistently operate as the primary creator for an efficient offense but also makes a ton of plays without the ball in his hands. Cogan is able to get downhill, attack the rim, and finish strong whenever he desires but also shoots it quite well from the perimeter. He has excellent cutting instincts and does a great job of carving out open spaces for easy buckets. Cogan is also poised in the open floor and makes smart passes/decisions at a fairly consistent rate. He’s young but there’s already a lot to like, certainly making him a prospect to watch closely going forward.” – Jeff Bendel from Phenom Hartsville
