Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Will Gray
Class: 2023
Committed to: UNC-Pembroke

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'Gray has been one we have talked about quite a few times in the past, as our own Jeffrey Bendel has spoken very highly about him.  Getting a chance to watch more of his game personally for myself, Gray is moving up the rankings for me as well.  Gray is a strong-bodied guard that really makes an impact on both ends of the court.  He shows that he can get downhill and be explosive on the court, as well as knock down shots at times.  Gray can really fill it up but also shines as a leader and can be unselfish on the court.  And that doesn't mention his defensive presence, something that we have raved about.'

'Folks should already be well-informed about Gray and his poised two-way identity. For those who don't, he's quietly among the more underappreciated prospects within North Carolina. Between his unselfish nature, defensive emphasis, and understanding of how to set the tone on both ends of the floor, Gray's value should be obvious. He looks to set up others whenever possible, but can also score the ball in a variety of different ways. Gray is excellent at getting to the basket and finishing, or pulling-up from midrange, but can also spot-up as needed from distance.'

'As one of the most highly regarded prospects in the area heading into his senior year, Will is proving he's hardwired to be a multidimensional leader for the Eagles. He's the pulse of their offense, providing quality ball control with a quick handle to navigate defenses, efficient creation of his own looks with shotmaking ability, and natural lead guard instincts to initiate things whether he's playing the 1 or 2. All this leaves him set up for a big summer and primed to repeat as the CPC player of the year.'

'Similar to the previous two entries, Will Gray is someone who definitely deserves more attention amongst college coaches. It's really perplexing to try and make sense of his lack of recruitment, especially given his productive and well-rounded identity. Gray is smart, strong, and athletic with the ability to comfortably control the action with the ball in his hands. He has unorthodox shooting mechanics, but truly scores the ball with efficiency from all levels. Gray is phenomenal at getting downhill, playing through contact, and finishing or setting up others with craftiness. He finishes well with both hands, above or below the rim, and is displays great body control around the basket. Gray is a strong rebounder and exceptional defender who forces turnovers, relentlessly pushes transition play, and makes intelligent decisions with the ball. He plays with such impressive pace, patience, and overall poise as a two-way leader. Gray genuinely has no real weaknesses on either end of the floor, and should have numerous offers at this point. He has the tools to succeed at a variety of different levels.'

'Recently at the Phenom Grassroots TOC, he gave us a glimpse of his entire game, being a dominant prospect offensively and defensively.  Offensively, he was able to get downhill, create well for himself, and finish through contact while also excelling in transition.  He is quicker than some may expect but also crafty in creating.  Add that to his ability to knock down shots, being an unselfish teammate, and showcasing his athleticism, Gray checks off a lot of boxes offensively.  Then, when you add his defensive presence, getting into defenders and being physical, as well as his impact on the boards, Gray is one that more schools could use at the next level.  With what he has shown and his development, expect more schools to get involved with this young man.'
