Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Patrick Wessler
Class: 2022
Committed to: Virginia Tech

What are the Hokies getting:

What a grab for Virginia Tech. Wessler not only brings size, standing as a true 7-footer, but also a special talent that has only grown and developed into one of the more elite bigs around the country. Still regarded as “overlooked” on a more national level, there is no doubt that the Hokies are getting a terrific talent and a skilled center. Wessler has tremendous touch offensively and has only expanded his game even more throughout the years. He also showcases tremendous vision as a big, making high IQ plays and finding teammates in open spots. Defensively, he certainly mans the paint, playing physically, being a rim-protector, and can really dominate on the boards.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“Wessler was pretty much dominant throughout the event and captured even more eyes with college coaches lining the baseline.  From when we first started watching him to where he is today, you can see that this 7-footer has put in the hours to now become one of the better bigs around the area.  It seems that he has put it all together. The footwork, the touch, the IQ, the rebounding, and shot-blocking… they are all there but one of the best things about his game is his ability to see the floor and find his teammates, something you don’t see enough with players his size.”

“Big Patrick Wessler showed it all and is continuing to play at an elite level.  Honestly, he is showing so many reasons why he is one of the top big men in the country.  With such a dominant performance, Wessler showed the touch, the footwork, the strength, and how to be an absolute monster on the boards.”

“Talk about another impressive big on the court, Wessler continues to show why he should be regarded as one of the better bigs in the country.  He brings such a dominant force to the court, aggressively getting on the boards, finishing through contact, and making team-plays while scoring the ball as well.  Such a terrific balance with his skillset.”

“Wessler has been one of the biggest risers with his recruitment and it is easy to see why.  Seeing this young big man elevate his game on the court can be easily noticeable, as he has improved his footwork, his skill set, his touch, and offensive scoring on the floor, not to mention his impact on the boards and as a rim-protector.  Wessler has been adding offers left and right, including ones from Cincinnati, West Virginia, Ohio State, NC State, Iowa, Southern Cal, and several others.  After his weekend in Rock Hill though, expect more to join in with his recruitment.”

“Hey look, Patrick Wessler finds himself on another standout list and he deserves all of the praise he has been receiving.  The 7-footer was tremendous once again, posting double-doubles again and being a dominant presence.  When you watch his game, his improvement in his footwork and feel for the game can quickly be recognized. Wessler is such a fundamental big with great vision and touch, which is why he should be rising up the national rankings… quickly!!”

“7’0 Patrick Wessler of CC Elite 20222 had a phenomenal weekend at the G3 showcase. His full arsenal of moves on the post and his ability to hit the midrange was on full display. He did a great job of getting post position and with his touch and length became absolutely unstoppable scoring in the paint. The part I was most impressed with was his ability to pass out the post. He did a phenomenal job of being patient and finding the open teammate consistently from the post. If he continues to work on his athleticism and shooting ability, he has a real chance of being paid to play basketball. The NBA potential is there, just have to continue developing and put everything together.”
