Phenom Hoops kicked off the season in a big way with the Carmel Christian Tip-Off Classic, bringing in some of the premier talent and teams from around the region under one building in Charlotte.

Day 2 kicked off in fashion between two very intriguing teams, Concord Academy vs. Wayne Country Day. Both teams were looking to bounce back from a loss on Friday and they came out strong. Concord jumped out quickly behind Van Bibber and Boyd but Wayne Country Day started to chip away late and only found themselves down 15-12 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, both teams were trading baskets and attacking when they could as we ended up with a tie score late in the quarter.  That is when Wayne Country Day went on a late 15-3 run before halftime to give themselves a nice 37-25 lead.

Coming out into the third quarter, it was a game of trading baskets for much of the quarter with Wayne Country Day maintaining their lead.  Wayne slowed it down a little against the zone defense, working the clock and finding good shots while Concord looked to attack and get out in transition when possible. But after the third quarter, Wayne held a 50-37 lead. Wayne Country Day wanted to put this game out of reach in the fourth, as they went up by 20 points midway through the fourth and eventually secured the win on Day 2.
