A short handed Team Charlotte handled business

Greensboro, North Carolina- Team Charlotte was able to capture the 16U championship Sunday without two noticeable pieces. Five star Jalen Hood- Schifino was off with Team USA, and high scoring combo guard Kris Robinson was also absent from this weekends showcase.

None the less it was next man up for this Team CLT squad, and the guys present proved more than capable of holding things down. This group made an impressive run including defeating a talented Team Winston squad en route to Championship Sunday. In the 16U championship game Team Charlotte took control from the tip, they were all over Foothills Legacy, scoring easy buckets and wreaking havoc defensively, they never allowed the opposition to establish much offensive flow. This roster features multiple players with nice upside at the next level.

5’11 2021 Tony Waters really showed up for this squad over the weekend, he claimed MVP in multiple games, Waters proved to be a number one scoring option.Waters

Waters gets his buckets strategically, he’s a smart shot taker and he’s good at creating space off the bounce. Waters is in the mold of a scoring combo guard at this stage but he doesn’t need to dominate the ball to get looks. Waters led Team Charlotte in scoring in Sunday’s championship game with 14 points. Waters was aggressive attacking the basket in this one, he earned multiple trips to the free throw line and made them count.

6’2 2021 Jarvis Moss is a sniper from long range, he knocked down a couple shots behind the arc on Sunday, Moss has a quick release and he doesn’t need much space. Moss has deep range and he can catch fire quick.Jarvis moss

Moss moves well in space off ball, constantly looking to find an opening in the defense, Moss also gives good effort defensively, far from a finished product but Moss has a nice foundation. Moss will also put the ball on the floor if he’s ran off the line, he’s crafty with the basketball and rarely turned it over. Moss is a guy that can provide instant offense for this group in bunches, Moss is a heat check waiting to happen if the defenses fall asleep. Moss utilizes ball fakes and a tight handle to keep defenders off balance.

6’8 2021 Nate Brafford There is a lot to like here the upside could be tremendous, Brafford is still a bit raw in these stages, but we saw in flashes what Brafford could be.nate brafford

At 6’8 Brafford is a skilled wing, he has a decent handle Brafford showed some ability taking his matchup off the dribble. Brafford can create for himself off the bounce, but he’s unselfish and won’t force the issue. Brafford has a thin build but he’s got good length and fully extends on finishes, Brafford can finish with either hand. Brafford can really open things up with his shooting ability from deep, he spreads the floor and opens things up for Team Charlotte’s athletic slashers.

6’4 2021 Bryce Alfino- Alfino is an explosive athlete, a very intriguing two way wing prospect. Alfino scores it in a variety of ways but he doesn’t rely solely on his athletic ability.Alfino

Alfino is skilled with the ball as well, a power slasher who can get his own or serve as a secondary ball handler. Alfino makes winning plays on both ends, with his build and natural athletic ability, Alfino could be a potential lock down defender at the next level. Alfino does whatever needs to be done to win games, very vocal on the floor as well for his side. Alfino could see a major stock boost over the travel ball season, he plays the right way but still has that mixtape showmanship.
