The class of 2023 North Carolina has been a hot topic as of late, with players coming off the board and announcing their commitment while others are narrowing down their list.  2023 Collin Tanner is one of the latest to hit the news, as he announced his Top 7 schools on Monday.

Tanner announced that Elon, UNCG, UNCW, Florida Atlantic, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, and Appalachian State all made his list.

The 6’6 prospect had a strong season at Wayne Country Day last year and continued that success with Team Curry.  He has a great skillset to go along with his size, showed his ability to be a smooth scorer, brings versatility to the table, and consistently showed that he can fill it up on the court but also do what is needed for his team.

One thing is for sure, whichever program he ultimately picks will be getting a great foundation for their future.  And Tanner will be a great piece for Combine Academy, as he announced he would be transferring to that program this upcoming high school season.

What We Have Said:

“At the absolute least, he’s a 6-foot-6 knockdown shooter with size, range, and fluidity. That being said, Tanner is way more than just a shooter. He’s proven capable of legitimately leading a team, propelling Wayne Country Day to a 25-8 record while posting nightly averages of 21.7 PPG, 7.8 RPG, and 1.3 SPG with ridiculously impressive 65/43/74 shooting splits. The transition into travel ball has been seamless. While Team Curry is very balanced, Tanner has more than maintained his status as a leader and overall difference-maker. He’s also a quality rebounder, useful defender, and capable shot-creator for himself and others.”

“After a 25-point performance on Day 1, Tanner came back strong once again on Day 2. Not only did he rack up a double-double by halftime, but he continued to show just how effective he can be no matter where he is placed on the court. The 6’6 prospect can be a main ball-handler, run the offense, create for himself off the dribble, finish strong and through contact in the paint, and also be a force on the boards. Tanner does it all and it is why we think he is going to see an uptick in his recruitment quickly.” – Patrick O’Brien
