The Phenom Prep Showcase was a terrific event that allowed our scouts to find new talents or get an update on a few others. One player that captured our interest was 2024 6’9 Kaizes Hemphill from Franklin Prep. He was one of several bigs that had an eye-opening showing throughout the event, and he was consistent all throughout.
When talking about Hemphill’s game, you first must take note of his size and impact around the basket. He has a strong feeling and moves well for his size, finding ways to score well around defenders, displaying footwork and feel as well as running the floor in transition. On multiple occasions, he ran the floor and finished strong at the rim and through contact. But overall, he is quite mobile and confident in how he can operate from multiple levels, displays touch and feel, and uses his frame to body up defenders.
