Court 1 continued to see that action going, with Beckley Prep and Franklin Prep on the court. Beckley Prep got out to the early lead led by BJ Mitchell and John Rose, leading 17-11 after the first quarter. But Franklin Prep struggled to get their offense going consistently, as Beckley Prep started to extend their lead to 36-19 at half. It never got any closer in this one. J. Graham was aggressive and got to the line for Franklin Prep, while D. Russell found some success late in the fourth quarter but Beckley Prep just built too much of a lead and used a balanced attack to take home the 75-45 victory.

Stats:
Beckley Prep:
BJ Mitchell 21 points
Kaden Smallwood 14 points
Azel Carmichael 14 points

Franklin Prep Regional

Standouts:

2023 Kaden Smallwood (Beckley Prep): Smallwood was able to put back-to-back solid games on Saturday for his team, finishing this game with 14 points.  He is productive on the floor, understands how to dissect and attack defenses, and plays with a good balance of scoring and playmaking on the court.

2022 Azel Carmichael (Beckley Prep): Carmichael is a quick, bouncy prospect that really can attack and drive the ball to the rim.  He really started to come on late but saw some good flashes in his game, finishing the day with 14 points.

2021 D. Russell (Franklin Prep): Russell was able to create opportunities for himself and started to find success late in the game.  Scored on multiple levels and was effective late, staying assertive and aggressive on the court.
