It is that time of the year… time to crown a champion in what can only be recognized as the premier event to end the season for several of these teams. The Hoop State Championship gives teams, players, and fans a chance to check out some of the top teams in the country from North Carolina, all competing for a state title!
The season has flown by but Phenom Hoops has one more elite event to go in crowning a state champion, as we preview the teams that will be in contention this year.
Liberty Heights National
Record: 28-2
When you talk about one of the premier teams in the state of North Carolina and nationally this year, you have to look at Liberty Heights National. They have racked up the wins and is a team LOADED with college-level talent, as they search to get back to the title game this year and secure the trophy under head coach Mike Wright.
They have secured several big wins this season which included victories against Moravian Prep, Combine Academy, National Christian, Word of God, Blue Ridge, Our Savior Lutheran, and TSF, while also winning Beach Ball Classic and most recently Big Shots Prep Nationals. Now, they look to end the season on the highest of notes at the Hoop State Championship.
As far as talent, you have to start with the guard duo of 2022 Elijah Jamison and 2023 Silas Demary Jr., two of the premier guards in the state that can initiate the offense, score in an array of ways, are leaders on and off the court, and just simply are playmakers. Then you look at 2022 Ezra Ausar, another unsigned senior that has the attention of many, as he brings size, athleticism, physicality, and much more to the court.
