COACH’S CORNER: South View Travis Lemanski From Michigan to the Hoopstate + His Team’s Outlook!

Moving from Michigan to North Carolina, Coach Lemanski knew that he wanted to coach sports. He got his first gig in NC at North Brunswick and then was promoted to the head coaching position, where he went 105-55. Eventually, he moved on and also become a football coach at Hoke County, How difficult was it to change sports like that and try something different for him? He also was the AC at Hoke, where he helped build a successful program. Then, he moved to South View, where he is today and has the program headed in the right direction. He has some impressive talent, including sophomore Cedavion Wimbley who averaged 20ppg. What is it like to play in a touch conference, how would he describe the state of basketball in NC, and what are some of his biggest lessons he has learned so far.

Before becoming the head coach, he graduated in 2010 from North Forsyth, and then attended App State. Once he graduated, he septa two years at Charlotte as a grad assistant under Mark Price, where he learned a lot. He then became an assistant coach for his uncle, Mike Muse at East Forsyth. Adam was put into the interim coach position and now is leading Reagan. What are the lessons he learned from his journey's and what did he learn from his father over the years? COACH’S CORNER: HPC Joel Battle Talks About His FIRST LOVE + Coaching in the NC Pro-AM & More!

Rick Lewis continues his trip around the state of North Carolina with coaches, this time talking to Coach Joel Battle from High Point Central. Coach started off at Kinston but baseball was his first love and eventually played it in college at NC A&T. In 2008, he got a chance to be the assistant coach for the JV baseball and basketball teams and eventually moved to being the head coach in 2010. He also had a chance to coach the NC Pro Am, a learning experience he won't forget. In 2015, he became the head coach at High Point Central, earning Coach of the Year honors in 2017 and 2019. What did those honors mean to him and what has been his biggest enjoyment so far with coaching?
