Phenom Spotlight: 6'1 Senior Zeke Cannedy (Kings Mountain)

Simply put, 6'1 Zeke Cannedy of Kings Mountain is having an unbelievable senior season. Currently ranked No. 75 in our Phenom Hoops North Carolina 2022 rankings, Cannedy is playing at a high level and leading Kings Mountain to a midseason 5-0 conference record and 8-5 overall. Cannedy is averaging 34.8 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 4.3 APG and 2.1 SPG. In addition, Cannedy is shooting 42% from the 3-point line and 52% from the floor.

We have seen Cannedy numerous times, ranging from travel ball to high school settings. Recently, our own Patrick O'Brien stated, 'Cannedy is a leader and has the ability to put his team on his back and make plays. Cannedy was relentless on the floor, playing with a non-stop motor, creating for himself and for others off the dribble, and showing his ability to penetrate a defense and score.'

In speaking with head coach Grayson Pierce, he stated the following. 'I have coached 13 players that have gone on to play at the next level. Zeke is the best scorer I have ever coached. He simply knows how to score. While he's not the bounciest player, but his IQ makes up for that. Zeke knows how to use his body to get where he wants. Simply put, he just knows how to play, not to mention he is a 'dawg' on the defensive end. More importantly, he wants to guard the opposing team's best player.'

Currently, Zeke Cannedy has offers from Belmont Abbey, Johnson C. Smith, Mary Baldwin, Newberry, and Southern Wesleyan while receiving interest from Appalachian State, Gardner Webb, Limestone, North Greenville, Queens, VMI and Wingate.
