The class of 2023 in South Carolina is quickly grabbing the attention of college coaches and 6'2 Jamari Briggs from Hartsville high school has now added his name to the list.

Our last viewing of Briggs was just recently at the Teammates Nationals, where we said this about his game.

'2023 Jamari Briggs is fun to watch. Big guard, pushes the tempo, and attacks, plays multiple positions and has a good feel in getting around defenders. Good motor as well.'

– Patrick O'Brien

We also got a great glimpse of his ability back in the fall at the Phenom Hoops South Carolina Top 80.

'He's a young, smart, wiry guard prospect with nice size, excellent footwork, and the ability to operate in a variety of different roles. Briggs is a quality ball-handler and passer that can work as a primary creator or off-ball cutter with relative ease. He plays hard at all times, pursuing rebounds, disrupting his assignment, and forcing turnovers at a pretty reliable rate against more experienced opponents. Briggs also plays with a nonstop motor and shows a clear willingness to make hustle plays whenever possible.'

Those kinds of characteristics helped lead to his first offer from Xavier, one that he announced on Wednesday night.  It was an offer that shocked him and excited him, as Briggs didn't know they were going to offer.  He heard about the offer through his high school coach.

'They said they loved my game,' Briggs told Phenom Hoops.  'It is a blessing. It means a lot.  I would describe my game as a guard who can score and play multiple positions.'

It is only the start for Briggs but receiving an offer from Xavier is certainly impressive for a rising sophomore.  Briggs though has certainly got his recruitment off to a great start and he will look to continue to attract the eyes of coaches around the country with his play this summer.
