Evan Johnson, 6-foot guard from Word of God, is a name that is quickly making a name for himself and he is only a freshman.

Johnson is an advanced guard for his age, as he is an athletic guard that has a high basketball IQ and can be a true threat scoring no matter where he is on the floor; he simply is a great catch and shoot guard and one that can be a true threat from behind the arc. He also has strong handles at the point guard position and is simply a confident player for someone that is only part of the 2020 class.

So far this season, Johnson is third on his team scoring, averaging 14 points per game so far. Already facing some great competition early on this season, Johnson has enjoyed playing with two future Division I players.

“Everything has been going great this season, getting good exposure and great competition,” Johnson said. “I can’t name too many things that are new about this season but playing with a Washington commit (Blake Harris) and a UNC commit (Brandon Huffman).

It’s been great, the team treats me like I’m one of them instead of being a “freshman” and the team believes in me even in tough situations.”

Johnson already is gaining national attention as well, as he holds three Division I offers from Old Dominion, Iowa State, and Penn State, all who have been communicating with his coaches early on. The fact that he already holds three Division I offers at such a young age is impressive enough and with his play early on, it will only continue on the upward trend for this talented guard.

You want to watch one of the most talented guards for 2020 though' One will not want to miss the Joe Miller Invitational on Dec 27-30, as Johnson is one of several Division I talents that will be a must-see throughout the week.
