It has been a fun offseason here in North Carolina, with news continuing to come each and every day. One of the most recent breaking news that should have the attention of fans around the country is Word of God’s newest addition in 2023 Mayar Wol.
First, let us look at Wol’s game and what he brings to the table. We are talking about a 6’8 prospect that has seen his game take off over recent years and has quickly risen up the rankings not only in the state of North Carolina but nationally as well. Now committed to the College of Charleston, Wol gives Word of God another big-time weapon and this is a team that is shaping up to be considered one of the best teams in the state and in the national spotlight. Wol’s ability to knock down shots from the perimeter will help Word of God immediately, but he has only continued to develop his overall feel offensively. He uses his 6’8 long frame extremely well in operating and scoring from multiple levels, showing his ability to create and finish around the rim, stretch the court, rebound the ball well, and showcase his ability to be a playmaker but also be deadly off the ball in getting to his spots.
And now, as far as Word of God and with this latest addition, we are now looking at a team that has 2023 Freddie Dilione, 2023 Davin Crosby, 2023 Isaiah Coleman, 2025 Zion Collins, 2025 Trevor Best, 2023 Truman Claytor, and now another big-time weapon in 2023 Mayar Wol (among others as well).
Could this be the most talented team in North Carolina'
That certainly could be the case and hard to argue against but we also know that everything has to come together and the talent has to gel on the court. So, we will put a pin in that conversation until the season starts.
But when looking into this team and addition, Word of God certainly has weapons all over the court, along with great size and playmaking ability. This was a team that was going to be in the national spotlight before the addition of Wol, but now adding another big-time talent like him should have Word of God in the bright lights all throughout and it gives this team a terrific shooter and weapon on the floor that will make this team tough to slow down.
What Has Been Said about Wol’s Game:
“The long, versatile, and athletic prospect showed more of his complete arsenal offensively, scoring from the perimeter, creating space for himself, rising over defenders, finishing at or around the basket, and being more assertive with his game.”
“At his size, Wol has the ability to impact the game in an array of ways, as he has continued to improve with his outside shooting, can knock down shots over defenders and finish well with touch, is active on the boards, and uses his length to alter shots.”
