Karolina Khaos Vs. Upward Stars
Adidas has made quite the splash in the state of South Carolina. Under Armour and Nike do not have a presence, however Adidas has 4 teams in the state. Arguably the top two programs are the Karolina Khaos and Upward Stars, these two programs.
Khaos is a branch of the old Carolina Ravens program, who called themselves SC Elite. When Adidas picked them up last year, they changed their name to the Karolina Khaos. They have alums throughout the college landscape and some star power on this team. They are led by top 100 prospect Sharone Wright, Jr, who also carries over 20 Division 1 offers.
Upward Stars has a line of alums who have made it to college. Last year the 17s program made it all the way to the Final Four of the Adidas Gauntlet having 9 players sign Division 1 scholarships. This year’s team will have great depth of talented players across the board.
The fun here will be the matchup. There are some bragging rights on the line here. With the University of South Carolina winning the women’s NCAA tournament and the men’s program reaching the Final Four, South Carolina is quickly turning into a basketball state. These are two of the top programs in the state, going head to head.
Jaden Springer Coming Home
Springer is ranked as high as the number 2 player in the 2020 (freshman) class. He took Charlotte by storm this past year. As a freshman at Rocky River High School Springer put up gaudy stats. He averaged 22 points, 9.4 rebounds and 5 assists per game. He also shot 58% from the field and a staggering 63% (22 of 35) from beyond the arc.
He is a high level prospect and there is no way around that. Already standing at a very lengthy 6’3” Springer, he has 2 brothers who also played basketball. One stood at 6’9” and the other at 6’7”. It looks like the high scoring wing, who is only 14 years old, will continue to grow
Right now he is playing with BMaze Elite. They are a sponsored program out of Knoxville, Tennessee playing on the Under Armour Circuit. Program director Bobby Maze played at Tennessee for two seasons graduating in 2010.
Expect Springer to bring a crowd, he is an elite level talent. That is for sure.
