Northside Christian vs. Cardinal Gibbons should be a good way to start the event
Northside Christian is coming off a strong showing at the Holiday Classic and is back in action again in Charlotte for the New Year’s Bash. A talented team with intriguing talent, especially at the guard position, looks to make another statement against a solid Cardinal Gibbons team that brings talent in 2025 Cash McSweeney and 2026 Aiden Smalls. Should be an interesting game to start the event.
Can Mallard Creek step up and make some noise
Mallard Creek has had a tough start to the season but there is talent to be found when you look at the roster. This could be a chance to head into the new year and make a statement, led by 2024 Langston Boyd, 2026 Rassell Young, and many other guards who can make plays. They will have a tough matchup against Gaston Christian to start the event, but they hope to change things up to end the year.
United Faith looking to make a statement
One of the more talented teams in the state will be in action as United Faith brings a balanced group with depth. They are led by 2025 JD Bowden, 2025 Dylan Deluca, 2024 DJ Boyce, 2024 Isaiah Sutherland, and many others that make their presence. This is a very dangerous team and they have a chance to really make a statement on the big stage.
Could Victory Christian be a sneaky team to watch'
We have watched VCCS already this year and we were impressed with their overall play both on offense and defense. They play their style, they play hard, and they get after it on offense and defense. They have pesky guards hat can make plays as well as Kabba Fanta manning the middle. They have a tough Day 1 game to start but they would love nothing more than to play spoiler.
Chambers looking to protect home court
Heading back to Chambers, we are here to call out and see what the home crowd can bring to the table; see if they can match Myers Park, Central Cabarrus, and others this season so far. Chambers is loaded with big-time talent and they would love nothing more than to walk away with a tournament championship.
Learning about new teams at the event
Phenom Hoops has a chance, along with fans around the state, to learn about West Charlotte, Huss, Franklin Prep, Bull City, and others throughout the event, as these teams bring some intriguing talent that should garner attention from college programs.
