Nebraska has landed them a big-time talent for next year, as Western Illinois’ Kobe Webster announced on Saturday that he would be transferring to the Cornhuskers.

Webster was a frequent player with Phenom Hoops, especially at the Indiana Top 80 years ago on multiple occasions.  He proved himself at Western Illinois all three years and now will be a critical piece next season for Nebraska.

As a freshman at Western Illinois, he started in all 28 games and led the team in scoring at 15.9 points, while shooting 43 percent from the floor.  He was named to the Summit League All-Newcomer Team and All-League Honorable Mention.  Webster continued his stellar play into his sophomore season, starting every game again and averaging a team-high 17 points per game while also shooting 41 percent from three.  He was named to the All-Summit League Second Team this season.

This year as a junior, he appeared in 26 games, averaged 17.1 points per game and shot 42 percent from the floor. He was named once again to the All-Summit League Second Team.

Now, he will be taking that same scoring power to Nebraska and the Big Ten as a grad transfer and will be immediately eligible.

Phenom Hoops Said about Webster:

“Kobe is a high academic tough-minded point guard. He demonstrated toughness and leadership throughout the day. Kobe plays with confidence and deep range on his jump shot… Kobe averaged 12 PPG and shot it well from the 3-point line. In our opinion, Kobe is still under the recruiting radar. We’re simply talking about an athletic and high IQ point guard that knows how to play the game the correct way. Without question, he is a winner on and off the court.” – Indiana Top 80 in 2016

“Talk about consistency, Webster scored 13, 15 and 15 in the three games at the Indiana Top 80 event. Simply put, Webster has a terrific feel for the game. He has an advanced basketball IQ and can run a team to perfection. Webster excelled in transition as well as the half-court. He also sports a great looking jump shot as he shot with a high percentage. He was both consistent and efficient throughout the day…” – Indiana Top 80 in 2015
