2022 Josh Scovens has been one of the more under-the-radar prospects in North Carolina but one that has been incredibly productive, no matter if has been during the travel ball season or high school season.  He has proven to be an effective prospect in several areas and he showed that once again at the NC Top 80.

Scovens has been able to catch the eyes of a few programs, earning offers from Hampden-Sydney, Randolph-Macon, and Lynchburg already but he earned his first D1 offer this week.  Phenom Hoops recently spoke to Scovens about earning an offer from Army and what was that moment like for him.

See what he had to say.

Phenom: What was it like to get that first D1 offer from Army' What is your excitement about it'
Scovens: It was like a weight lifted off my shoulders.  I've been putting in the work and I knew it was only a matter of time but it was like the biggest stress reliever ever.  My excitement level was through the roof because I knew I finally proved the doubters wrong.

Phenom: How did you hear about the offer' What did they have to say and what did they like about your game'
Scovens: I was having a rough night with my homework and I got a call from Coach Allen, saying he likes me as the person I am and the player I've become. Then said he would like to officially offer me.  They like my motor and how hard I play on both ends and how I can score on all three levels effectively.

Phenom: How long have they been showing interest your way'
Scovens: Since June.

Phenom: What other schools have been expressing interest your way'
Scovens: Gardner-Webb, Navy, LMU, High Point, and Queens.  And I'm still on UNCG's board.

Phenom: What is your excitement about heading into your senior year'  What are you focusing on and what areas are you looking to work on with your game'
Scovens: I'm just excited about getting the Mac jumping again with fans being allowed.  I'm just ready to have the crowd roaring!  I'm focusing on my leadership role on the team and winning.  I'm looking to shoot the three ball at an elite level and be efficient while also creating more.
