The Chargers of Wayne Country Day (Girls) are coming off a tremendous season in which they finished 23-7 and made an appearance in the NCISAA semifinals last year. And the Chargers are looking strong once again early on this season, both offensively and defensively.
Wayne Country Day is averaging 66 points per game and playing at a high level, while only giving up 31 points per game to start the season. Nearly every single win so far has been by 20 points or more except for one against John Paul II.
When you look at the roster, you first have to look at the two seniors that are leading the way. Jakea Brunson has had an excellent career and is looking to finish it off in a big way. Now playing over 100 games, she has been averaging 18.2 points per game throughout her career and is leading the charge this year at 21 points per game. Alongside her is senior Kyrah Davis who is averaging nearly 17 points per game as well. These two seniors have been extremely strong and have been the clear leaders for Wayne Country Day so far.
But this team doesn’t stop there, as sophomore Jayla Hicks is having a great season in averaging 11.5 points, while freshman Jada Vanderhorst, senior Jordin Whitney, and others have been stepping up when called upon.
The Chargers of Wayne Country Day (Girls) will have to continue to battle through a tough conference schedule but with what they have shown so far, they are looking strong early and should continue to find success throughout the year.
