Looking at players around the state of North Carolina looking to take the next step in their game, one player to keep an eye on is 2027 6’5 Brayden Milner for Gaston Christian. This is a team that lost production last year from key seniors and will continue to be led by 2026 Cameron Newman, one of the top point guards in the state.
Last year as a freshman, Milner was able to gain valuable experience both on JV and Varsity, and he has a chance to really make a name for himself this season. At 6’5 now, Miner has intriguing size along with his ability to be an impact player. He has shown that he has confidence in his shot-making ability, stretching and opening the floor from behind the arc but he is also adding more to his overall skillset and arsenal. Milner is showing more of his understanding of using his size, scoring in various ways, impacting the game in other ways like on the boards and defensively, and is one that plays with energy on both ends. Gaston Christian will be a team that is looking for others to step up and help Newman out and Milner could be that “breakout” type player for them this season, as he offers a lot of potential with his game.
