The season is well underway for schools all around the country.  This time, we look in the state of Virginia, a state that at times gets overlooked with the talent that comes through.  But we are here to shed some light and also introduce you to a sophomore that has been putting some impressive numbers up this season.

2024 6’2 Markus Robinson from Veritas Collegiate Academy is having an outstanding season, leading the state in scoring (according to MaxPreps), and has done it consistently throughout the season so far.  It also doesn’t look like he is going to be slowing down any time soon.

In 15 games this season, Robinson is averaging 34.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.  He is also shooting 53 percent from the floor, consistently gets to the free-throw line (80 percent from the line), and can stretch the floor at times knocking down 38 threes so far this year.

In that span, he has recorded five games in which he has scored over 40 points, he is now on a 3-game span of scoring over 40 points, and had a season-high 49 points back at the start of December vs. Summit Christian Academy.

Phenom Hoops got a chance to watch Robinson back at the Good Guys vs. Cancer in December at the Outer Banks, where we had this to say:

“Robinson is a new name for us but we were intrigued with what he was going to show, coming into the event averaging nearly 39ppg early on the season. Robinson is a strong, athletic guard that showed the ability to get to his spots, create opportunities at the line, finish strong around the basket, and plays with such a physical feel on the court.  He led the way with a double-double in his only outing, scoring 27 points and recording 12 rebounds.”

“Robinson brings a strong body to the table, with the ability to battle and finish strong around the basket and really be a physical presence on the boards.  Robinson also was able to get to his spots, especially showing his one-dribble pull-up.  Strong showing for the sophomore guard.”

The 6’2 guard has been strong all season long and again, doesn’t look like he is slowing down anytime soon. So be sure to check him out, as he is putting up some incredible numbers in the state of Virginia.
