Lawson is an awesome versatile athlete who simply punishes defenders inside and out. He has a beautiful rainmaker that he shoots at a very high clip. He can be lethal if you leave him any space, but he can attack effectively off the bounce. He is an imposing force around that rim with the size to dominate most defenders. Crafty and strong. Lawson can really work the boards on both ends, getting a ton of offensive putbacks.
Down in Texas, he just dazzled us with his scoring ability and defensive swagger against bigger opponents. Jack was fearless. He was on fire y’all averaged a double-double. I couldn’t be more excited as I saw development beyond my first visit. He truly won’t just settle to be a determined three-point shooter but has developed into a low post power. Understanding keeping the defense guessing helps the entire team.
His biggest improvement was mental toughness. During the AAU session, Lawson averaged 20pts and 7rebs. And in Georgia, he averaged 28pts a game. Last season, Jack averaged 11pts and 7rebs. Jack certainly came to play his best against the best in the circuit.
His goal for the upcoming season is to continue to keep elevating his skills en route to a championship run. Coaches need to know it’s his work ethic with this awesome skillset that sets him apart. Jack is a fierce competitor and a proven leader and winner. This is going to be a magical last run as all the pressure is off as Lawson has committed to Trinity University.
