Winning is a skill set, it is something that either you have or you don’t. 6′ Nathan Yow makes everyone around him better. Prior to Yow transferring to Grace Christian, nestled in Sanford, North Carolina, the team went 0-21 for the season. Now, two years later, Grace Christian is sitting at 18-8, coming off a 20-11 season, Yow’s first at the school.
Yes, Yow transferred to Grace Christian and they went from 0 wins to 20. That is not by accident, as we said before, winning is an attitude, it’s leadership mixed with work ethic and skill. Yow has all of this in spades. Currently, Yow is averaging 9.5 points per game, while shooting 46% (55-118) from beyond the arc. Add in over 4 assists and 2 steals per game and you have yourself a difference maker.
However, his winning goes so much further than the impressive stats you see. It is his leadership, it is his ability to connect with every one of his teammates, and bring out the absolute best in every one of them. After watching him perform in this year’s National Showcase we wrote, “Yow is a silky smooth lead guard that has proven himself as an incredibly productive and valuable piece to whatever team he suits up for. He should garner interest from some scholarship coaches as he looks to lead his Grace team to the promised land in his senior season.”
Sitting at 18-8 on the year, with 4 more regular season games and then Conference and State playoffs, it appears Yow is about to lead Grace Christian (0-21 just two seasons ago) to back to back 20 win seasons.
