At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, over one hundred players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and underrated, and today's edition will highlight Tavis Bridges of Moravian Prep and Team Phoenix.'

Whether at Starmount or Moravian Prep's regional team, we've seen Bridges' undeniably steady production as a constant variable throughout his playing career. While many current high school prospects are overly enamored with flashy dunks and playing out of position, Bridges seems quite content owning his identity and improving to be the best possible version of himself. He possesses touch and a reliable arsenal of finishes with either hand out of the post but doesn't try to do too much. He has the ability to finish above the rim or step out and knock down open midrange jumpers. Bridges is a useful two-way rebounder that runs the floor properly in transition and understands how to effectively fill the lane. He's fundamentally-sound and does a great job of making instinctual decisions on both ends of the floor.'

We've seen Bridges attend our events and shine over the years, including at our recent NC Phenom 150 Camps, where we stated: 'Finishing up, we look at a player that has a chance to become really unique and special, Tavis Bridges. He's a long big man prospect that understands how to impact the game on both ends of the floor while controlling the paint. Bridges moves pretty well for his size and runs the floor purposefully in transition, often securing the defensive rebound, passing ahead, and eventually finishing the play himself. He has nice timing and instincts on rebounds or when protecting the rim. Next in his development process is continuing to add strength, as it would make him a more impactful rebounder on both sides of the ball. Coach Bernardi on Bridges: 'Tavis is a big man with a great attitude and a clear willingness to get better. He has a great low post package and developing jumper with good mechanics. He alters shots at the rim very well and is always in a stance. He needs to improve his quickness on the perimeter and shot-selection. He can be a good player if he continues to develop perimeter abilities.' Bridges possesses a lot of useful tools and should be able to continue expanding his skillset over these next two years.'

Even since joining Moravian Prep earlier this year, Bridges has made noticeable strides within his game. He's playing tougher and more physical than ever while still maintaining his consistency, unselfishness, and even-keel demeanor. Bridges has seen varying levels of interest from numerous different programs but has yet to see the appropriate recruitment for his abilities. At the very least, college coaches should be eyeing Bridges as a wise late-addition, as he certainly has a place at the next level.
