At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, over a hundred players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III,or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and under-recruited, and today's edition will highlight Rashad McCormick of Hough High School.

We've seen McCormick steadily blossom over the recent months, previously stating, 'When watching this Hough squad, it's easy to see the value that McCormick brings to the table. He's a long, wiry, athletic wing/forward prospect with a useful penetration sense and the ability to finish through contact or above the rim. McCormick is a capable perimeter shooter and playmaker who looks to get downhill whenever possible. He still possesses clear upside as a defender. This was later followed by, 'Although there isn't much buzz currently surrounding his name, McCormick should have a lot more suitors at the next level. He's a long, explosive forward prospect with great fluidity, toughness, and overall instincts. McCormick applies nonstop pressure at the rim, able to play through contact and consistently finish above anyone in his path, but can also knock down jumpers at a respectable clip. His motor, athleticism, and rebounding sense make him an absolute problem for opponents on both ends of the floor. McCormick is also a useful shot-blocker and willing passer. He should see an uptick in his recruitment sooner than later.'

Now, it's downright perplexing as to why McCormick doesn't currently have more action within his recruitment. He's an extremely long, highly explosive wing/forward prospect with a polished offensive arsenal, rebounding instincts, enticing defensive tools, and clear upside remaining. This season, McCormick is posting nightly averages of 16.9 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 2.4 APG, and 1.2 SPG while shooting 50% from the floor and knocking down three-pointers at a respectable clip. He's a game-changing athlete with feel, toughness, and the ability to produce within numerous roles. McCormick has taken on a leadership role this season, and it's proven successful. Although Hough has lost a few winnable games, it's worth noting that three of their five losses came against the top teams in the state (Chambers, Central Cabarrus, and North Mecklenburg). In turn, McCormick is someone who definitely has a place at the next level and should be actively pursued by a variety of college coaches.
