At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, hundreds of players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and underrated, and today's edition will highlight Jimeion Brown of York Prep.

We've seen Brown since his middle-school days, most recently stating, 'Finishing up, we look at a player that simply knows how to produce alongside any collection of teammates, Jimeion Brown. He's a wiry, long-bodied forward/post prospect with a steady, reliable presence on both ends of the floor. Brown possesses touch and solid athleticism, which allows him to finish around the basket or above the rim, but can also step out and apply pressure as a floor-spacer. He displays nice instincts as a rebounder and rim-protector, and runs the floor well in transition. Next in his development process is working to get stronger, as it would only maximize his aforementioned defensive instincts. Coach Paul on Brown: 'Jimeion is a stretch-forward with great long-term upside. He shoots the ball really well off the catch. He possesses great length, which helps him deflect shots and also intercept passing lanes. Jimeion is a great leader.' Brown continues to highlight a lot of ability, and should have the attention of college coaches as he enters his senior season at York Prep.'

Since then, Brown has only continued to further solidify himself as a college worthy prospect. He's long, unselfish, and understands how to consistently produce within his role on either end of the floor. Brown can finish or space the floor, given his blend of touch and perimeter shooting. He utilizes his length very well around the basket, both as a scorer and shot-altering presence. Brown displays nice defensive instincts, rebounding ability, and a willingness to make hustle plays whenever possible. He runs the floor well in transition and maximizes his straightforward approach at all times. Between his appeal and production over the years, Brown should be a useful piece at the next level.
