At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, over one hundred players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and underrated, and today's edition will highlight Tyler Fearne of Concord Academy.

We've seen Fearne various times over the last few years, including recently at our Tip-Off Classic, where we stated, 'The Concord Academy roster is loaded with talent, which is what allows Fearne to naturally operate within a glue-guy role on both ends of the floor. His all-around skillset and approach lead to a pretty full stat sheet on a game-to-game basis. Despite his wiry frame, Fearne is a quality rebounder and defender with an understanding of how to thrive within a low-maintenance role. He's a great communicator and also regularly finds opportunities to assert his three-point shooting and midrange jumper off of one or two dribbles.'

With so many guys focused on posting massive scoring totals and making highlight-reel plays, it's refreshing to see someone like Fearne embrace his ability as a natural glue-guy. His combination of IQ, length, and two-way versatility makes him adaptable to various different roles on the court. He's a knockdown shooter with great decisiveness and overall decision-making, both as a passer and when looking to score. Fearne rebounds the ball very well and understands how to properly utilize his length to his advantage around the basket. He moves fluidly for his size and is capable of initiating offense as needed. Fearne can also defend multiple positions. Expect him to collect a variety of offers over the next few months.
