6'5 Charlie Yoder (Westview HS, Westview, IN)
There is no mistake, 6'5 Charlie Yoder has enjoyed a lustrous high school career. Yoder led Westview to a 21-4 record where he averaged 27.3 PPG, 12 PPG, 5.6 APG and 3.3 SPG. He finished as Westview's All-Time leading scorer (2163 points), single season scoring record holder (734 points), single game scoring record (52 points), and no. 25 on Indiana's All-Time Scoring List. While scoring has come easy to the 6'5 wing, Yoder has also impressed us in other areas of the game.
We were fortunate to watch Yoder once in high school and twice at our Indiana Top 80 camp. Back in 2017, we wrote the following. 'Charlie displayed a great accuracy in his shooting. He uses shot fakes well to create space to get his shot off. He also has long arms which helps defensively.'
A year later at our 2018 Indiana Top 80 camp, Yoder earned the prestigious Mr. Hustle Award and we stated, 'The high-octane guard simply ‘lit it' up at the Indy Top 80. In the first two games, Yoder scored 44 and 28 points respectively. He scored from all three levels, but it was his effort, energy and overall hustle that made the biggest impression. He seemed to be at the right place and the right time especially on the offensive end of the court. While he was the camp's top scorer, Yoder also displayed the same amount of effort on the defensive side of the ball.'
In addition, camp coach Jordan Gathers stated, 'Charlie is a blue-collar guy. He's a left-handed do-it-all player who has high level talent. He has a great motor and is a great finisher around the basket.' Amongst the impressive things he did throughout the day, those mentioned above helped earned him the 'Mr. Hustle' award at the Indy Top 80 camp. Yoder's effort and motor will make him one to keep an eye on heading in to his junior year.'
