At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, over a hundred players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III, or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and under-recruited, and today's edition will highlight Wyatt Mowery of RJ Reynolds.

We've seen Mowery steadily progress over the last calendar year, stating, 'Although we've seen Mowery in various different settings, he's arguably at his best with his high school team. It's easy to see his progression over the recent months, as he does a great job of finishing, rebounding, blocking shots, and spacing the floor at 6-foot-10. Mowery moves well, especially for his size, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. He possesses a nice blend of touch and athleticism. Mowery plays hard, runs the floor properly in transition, and is willing to do the dirty work on either side of the ball. He should only continue to progress, and subsequently, attract various types of coaches over the coming months.'

Since then, Mowery has only continued to trend upward. He's still developing but already understands how to play hard, finish around the basket, alter shots defensively, and make his rebounding presence felt on both ends of the floor. Although the Demons have seen some struggles as a team, it's more due to unforeseen injuries and/or roster turnover than anything else. Meanwhile, Mowery is still posting nightly averages of 11.2 PPG, 6.2 RPG, and 1.4 BPG while receiving a ton of defensive attention from opponents. His blend of size, mobility, and obvious upside should already have college coaches enticed, but only time will tell where he ultimately decides to further his playing career.
